Keeping a surname after a divorce
As a result of the divorce, the spouses automatically lose the right to the surname(s) acquired with the marriage.
If you wish to retain the surname(s) acquired, the consent of the former spouse or authorisation from the court is required. This consent may be given by the former spouse at the Consulate General, in person, in possession of a valid Citizen's Card or a Passport if he or she is a citizen of a foreign country.
