
Who can claim Portuguese nationality?
- Able adults born abroad who are the children of a Portuguese national mother/father, who were already Portuguese at the time of their birth;
- Adults who declare that they want to acquire Portuguese nationality, using the declaration for the acquisition of Portuguese nationality.

What documents are needed?
- Valid foreign passport;
- Legalised Full Birth Certificate;
- Declaration for the acquisition of Portuguese nationality (form available at https://justica.gov.pt/Guias/como-obter-nacionalidade-portuguesa) - This declaration must be signed in front of the consular officer, on the day of the appointment.

- In a branch of the Institute of Registration and Notary at the National Support Centre for the Integration of Migrants, in Lisbon and Porto;
- At the Areeiro Registration Space, in Lisbon;
- At the Odivelas Citizen's Store;
- In a civil registry office;
- In a Nationality Counter;
- In a Portuguese Consulate in your area of residence;
- Central Registry Office
- A Nationality Counter.
