The Emergency Travel Document was created as an alternative for Portuguese nationals whom find themselves without any form of ID outside of Portugal and, for reasons emergency, must travel to Portugal, not having enough time to apply for a new Citizen Card. The Emergency Travel Document, as it's name suggests, allows only a one way journey to Portugal and nowhere else.
In order to apply for this document, applicants must be present at the Consulate between 08.30 am and 11 am. There's no need to book an appointment and applicants will be served upon order of arrival. The issuing of this document depends on the central authorization, which could increase the waiting time. Warning: On bank holiday eves, this service is on very high demand, therefore the Consulate does not guarantee the issuing of this document on the same day of it's application.

Warning: The services reserve their right to request further documentation to proceed with the application process.
